The Knuckles exclusive (well, unless you fly into some of them with Tails) areas are well integrated.This is good, particularly in zones such as Metallic Madness (Act 1). It's pleasing that Knuckles' glide can be used to travel through time: a 6-tap spindash into a glide - maintained for the requisite amount of time - reliably transported me into the past.I already know where most of them are, so I didn't have to backtrack really, but his ability to climb walls makes it simpler than before to re-trace your steps.

He fits well into CD, particularly if you're hunting for the machines in the past.

A great addition Knuckles controls as you'd expect, though this time he can more quickly start a spin dash after landing from a glide (which is good!).

Nobody really seems to be talking about Knuckles in CD, so I'll give my thoughts: going uphill.Īlong with the really high quality sprite work on her, she really feels like a member of the core playable cast that’s always been here. I could even see some specific situations where it could be more useful than drop dash when dealing with enemies since it leaves her standing, i.e. Still since she swings her hammer, it gives her a way to land and be able to deal with enemies immediately. She has like a pseudo drop dash, but it only seems to help her speed when she’s near standstill. And since it doesn’t bounce you like insta-shield, rooms where there’s groups of enemies can be hacked through easily. Enemies that have protection like spikes she can rip through very effectively. You feel the safest while jumping with her than any other character by far because of it, and safer regarding enemy control in general. Like a slightly bigger and constant insta-shield that doesn’t bounce you as erratically.

I’ve only been played through Sonic 1 as Amy so far, but I think she’s balanced wonderfully and she’s fun.
